BANNER MUSICA Y VINO

Summer concert series at El Celleret

In addition to the gorgeous surroundings, the outstanding culinary offer, and the exceptional Familia Torres wines, El Celleret, located on our flagship Mas La Plana estate, is now adding live music to complete the sensory experience. This symphony of flavours and sounds transforms the act of pairing wine and food into a truly exuberant and emotional experience – pleasure expressed in its purest, most genuine state. Here, music and wine stand side by side as cornerstones of culture.

JULY 2024

Saturday 6th: Sisu Coromina & Xavi Díaz Jazz Duo

Jazz is quite possibly the music genre with the greatest number of subgenres. What they all have in common, however, are musicians with a masterful command over their instruments, creativity, a connection between the musicians – a shared language of sorts – that creates a space for freedom and improvisation. It is a living dialogue that speaks directly to the audience, turning every live performance into a unique and unrepeatable experience.

Malpastor (DOCa Rioja) is a tribute to the origins of the Tempranillo variety in La Rioja, as well as to everything that has been learned along the way. An elegant wine that combines typicity and modernity, where the varietal fruit aromas and subtle oak come together in perfect harmony. A jazzy fusion.

Friday 12th: Swing Experience

Born in the US during the Roaring Twenties, swing derives from jazz, but brings to it a cheerful, irresistible, danceable rhythm. It embodies a feeling of freedom and exuberance that marked the period between the first and second world war. Swing and jazz also share the same instruments: a rhythm section (bass, drums, percussion), horns, brass, and string instruments. Swing is based on medium- and fast-paced rhythms and tempos with very melodic riffs that lift the spirit and get those feet moving. Big bands exemplified this style of music.

A genre infused with a carefree and lets-have-fun attitude. Celeste Rosé (DO Cigales) shares the same lust for life, versatility, and that intangible something that unites kindred souls.

Saturday 13th: Nota de Pas

Nota de Pas is a duo composed of Anna Puig and Joan Sebastià (songwriters, singers, and musicians). They are united by a shared love of country-pop music, a style reflected in both their choice of covers and own material, imbued with an intimacy that invites the audience in. The perfect aural caress for a summer evening.

Pazo das Bruxas (DO Rías Baixas) offers a contrast in the key of Albariño, rooted in the wildness of the Atlantic coast, although at heart it is laden with nostalgically flavoured folklore; myths and legends that whisper in our ears and dart across our palates.

Friday 19th: Axel Davis Solo

Axel Davis serves up a repertoire with echoes of vintage jazz, swing, and blues. This is music to be heard and felt; music that orbits the collective unconscious of all music lovers. An homage to the roots of contemporary music.

By the same token, Clos Ancestral Tinto, (Tempranillo, Garnacha, and the ancestral variety Moneu) embodies a varietal trio that takes something deeply local and makes it global, accessible to wine lovers everywhere.

Saturday 20th: Rocío Faks

With her exquisite voice and warm, welcoming on-stage presence, Rocío Faks combines folk, jazz, rock, bossa nova, and her own material to create concerts that are a subtle and one-of-a-kind experience. Intimate and inviting.

Purgatori (DO Costers del Segre) offers its own kind of intimate connection as a tangible testament to the presence of the Benedictine monks in an enclave that was a place of both penance and discovery for them. In 1770, the abbey of Montserrat ordered the construction of the L’Aranyó estate in an inhospitable location far from the monastery. Here the monks discovered a terroir with immense potential for producing outstanding wines. According to legend, large barrels would mysteriously vanish overnight. Some said it was the angels taking them up to heaven.

Friday 26th: M de Marta

With echoes reminiscent of Portishead and Noah Gundersen, M de Marta brings us an intimate take on urban indie folk, combining old and new, subtlety and something to say. Music firmly rooted in the sidewalks of the city but gazing at the sky.

Celeste Reserva (DO Ribera del Duero) is similarly rooted in the ground, the land, but its Tinto Fino vines rise to reach for the stars. Like a touch of velvet against the skin.

Saturday 27th: Soul & Sunrise

Covers of rock, soul, and blues standards and anthems. A trip back in time through timeless music. Songs that have lasting power. Verses, bridges, choruses that stir something within us; tangible sensations that unite us in song.

Salmos (Vi de Vila DOQ Priorat) turns to a timeless duo, Garnacha and Cariñena, to transform every sip into a similar kind of journey, transforming what is eminently local into something global and timeless.

We will be posting the dates and times of our August concerts at El Celleret shortly. There is more to come. A lot more!
