CAMINO DE MAGARÍN

In the heart of Castilla, a region with a long noble tradition, a lost path winds along the banks of the river Duero in the town of Villafranca del Duero. This path is known as “Camino de Magarín” and its winding route ends at the Winery to which it gives its name, “Bodega Magarín”.
The new winery’s vineyards are a tangible expression of the commitment to producing prestigious wines in the Rueda appellation of origin.
Camino de Magarín: The Wine
Camino de Magarín 2015 is a Verdejo with four months of lees aging, made from vines planted in clayey gravel and pebble-rich soils. It is an exemplary Castilian wine, but with a distinctively unique personality.
Winemaker Juan Ramón García has crafted a wine that is pale and brilliant in appearance, with a captivating floral and citrusy nose, where verbena and lemon marmalade rest on a bed of lees that gives the palate both body and silk.

D.O. Rueda: Land of Fragrant Whites
Located west of Valladolid province and south of the Duero River (Castile-León), the DO Rueda comprises over 13,000 hectares under vine of which almost 80% are planted with the local flagship grape, Verdejo.

The region's signature gravelly soil
The region enjoys the influence of a continental climate, resulting in cool summer nights that help preserve the grapes' aromas and acidity. This is why the region is known for its fragrant whites, which are intensely aromatic and light on the palate.
Verdejo: Profiles and Characteristics
The Verdejo grape is a drought resistant variety that adapts well even in poor terroirs.

Verdejo, Rueda's indigenous grape par excellence
Nowadays, the variety brings us two different, but equally appealing styles:
On the one hand, young, lively wines brimming with fresh, racy, citrusy white fruit.
On the other hand, a more complex varietal style that, like Camino de Magarín, plays with skin contact and flirts with oak to develop greater aromatic nuances and depth, maturity and structure, offering a fuller body and an unctuous, glycerol-rich texture.
Whatever style one may prefer, we'd like to toast this region of rich contrasts, home to a noble winemaking heritage, whose wines embody the essence of a deeply rooted tradition that allows us to keep growing, innovating and moving forward.
